embracing a slower life
seeking wonder in my days
Creative expression is an integral part of my life. It feeds my mind, my spirit and my wellbeing. It promotes mindfulness in my days as I see and respond to the beauty around me.
Plants and the landscape remain a constant source of inspiration. The intricacies and ephemerality of nature feed my creative soul while connecting me to nature’s cycles and a sense of place.
The images I take promote close observation of my surroundings and provide a starting point to respond both creatively and emotionally through digital editing. This editing process, using multiple apps on my iPad, is meditative, allowing me to explore my emotional landscape
while challenging myself creatively. It gives me a chance to pause and respond, using the subject matter of the image as a point of departure to express what I feel.
Botanical contact printing or eco printing creates a further dimension of possibility creatively as the beauty within the leaves is revealed in the printing process. The pigments in the plants produce beautiful and often unexpected results leading to an even more intimate and intriguing relationship with nature.
My art is slow and intuitive, a time to be fully present, a time to notice and celebrate the fragility and resilience of life. Engagement in the moment and close observation of what may be overlooked in our busy world as ordinary promotes wonder and joy in my life, allowing me to live from a place of gratitude.
